Disabled access to Harbour Park
Harbour Park and its surrounding parking areas are accessible for people who are physically disabled, including those who require a wheelchair. The Park is all on one level (except for the Crazy Golf), and our toilets include specially built cubicles for wheelchair access. Council built changing places restrooms have also recently been built on the seafront.
We offer a free carer band for Carers. To redeem, please visit the Gift Hut and present your DLA, Compass Card or Access Card to a member of staff.
Disabled access to the rides
We encourage our managers to discuss with guests the possible use of individual rides for those with additional needs. However, Harbour Park will follow the manufacturer’s requirements regarding safe use, including evacuation procedures. Many of our attractions are suitable for persons with a range of different disabilities, some though will require a carer to accompany any person with special needs. Carers (16+ years) can receive a free band for this and we accept schemes such as the compass card as verification. Management will ultimately assess and decide on suitability to ride. Please do call ahead to discuss any specific questions or needs with the Operations team in relation to riding attractions.
Rides unsuitable for wheelchair users
The nature of jumping attractions such as the soft play area, trampolines and the state of excitement of young guests mean that wheelchairs or pushchairs are not allowed onto/into these facilities. Both the Castle Slide and Sharksville Adventure Golf are inaccessible to wheelchairs and pushchairs. Assessments showed that the steepness of the stairs made access ramps impractical. Rides that operate at height (Water Chute and Ocean Coaster) require all riders to be able to walk unaided up the stairs to the loading platform. This is a requirement set out by ride manufacturers for evacuation purposes. Most other rides can be enjoyed by persons with special needs if they are able to hold themselves in a seated position unsupported, and, with assistance, to vacate their chair and the ride.
